Supplemental Practicum

Voluntary Withdrawal

Who:

You voluntarily withdrew from the BEd during the program and/or practicum. The date of return must be within 12 months of the date of withdrawal.

Action:

  1. Contact the Teacher Education Office in writing to request reinstatement.
  2. Provide information about additional courses or other steps you have taken that will demonstrate your readiness to resume the program (if applicable.)
  3. Arrange an interview with a Program Coordinator and/or Practicum Coordinator to discuss your request.
  4. If your request is approved, pay the Registration Deposit for the session in which you will begin again [Winter or Summer].

Voluntary Withdrawal – Over 12 Months From Date of Withdrawal

Who:

You are in this category if your initial withdrawal was more than 12 months prior to your anticipated date of return, but does not exceed 36 months.

Action:

  1. First, download, print off and follow the guidelines provided for you.
  2. Submit a completed Application for Re-Admission form to TEO.
  3. Include the application fee indicated on the application form.
  4. Include a written rationale with information about additional courses or other actions/experience that demonstrate your readiness to resume the program.
  5. Arrange an interview with a Program Coordinator and/or Practicum Coordinator to discuss your request.
  6. Re-admission is not automatic. Each application will be considered on its merits. If your request is approved, pay the Registration Deposit for the session in which you will begin again [Winter or Summer].

Students Required to Withdraw or Discontinue

Who:

You are in this category if you were required by TEO to withdraw from or to discontinue the BEd program. (Including having received a standing of Fail for any practicum.) Only individuals who began the BEd program not more than 3 years previous to the date of this application are eligible to apply.

Action:

  1. First, download, print off and follow the guidelines provided for you.
  2. Submit a completed Application for Re-Admission form to TEO.
  3. Include the application fee indicated on the application form.
  4. Include a written rationale with information about additional courses or other actions/experience that demonstrate your readiness to resume the program.

lpiApplicants from a non-English language university must meet UBC English language requirements for admission to the university.

Applicants to the BEd program must complete the LPI (Language Proficiency Index), with a score of 5, or other acceptable English language competency test, and you must have 6 credits of post secondary English in literature & composition completed in a recognized institute where classes are taught in English.

french language testingApplicants for either the Immersion or Core French options in the Secondary or 12-Month Elementary programs are required to complete the French Language Appraisal For Teachers. The task deals with spoken and written competencies.
