I am teaching a grade 3 class in Monterrey, Mexico, and it is an amazing adventure. Not only do I have the chance to use what I learned in the SREC (Social Responsibility & Enviromental Sustainability cohort) program, I also have the opportunity to learn about the differing attitudes towards education of students, parents and administrators in a different part of the world. The children's English is pretty good, and getting better all the time, and teaching in a private school is a lot different than teaching in a public school. On top of this, I can travel in my off time to beaches, colonial cities and pyramids. The Mexican culture is extremely warm, and I made good friends almost immediately after arriving.
