Roxanne Black

Roxanne Black completed UBC's BEd program in Elementary (2005), during which time, she was an active member of our Education Students Association. She began her career as an intern teacher at Crofton House School.

Rachel Annelisa Fales (Teaching in the Abbotsford School District)

As a UBC Bachelor of Arts (Geography) and a Bachelor of Education (Elementary) graduate, Rachel Fales has been working in the Abbotsford School District. She continues her education by attending various professional development workshops, including her current interest in the Virtual School and online course creation.

Andrew Gasson

I am teaching a grade 3 class in Monterrey, Mexico, and it is an amazing adventure. Not only do I have the chance to use what I learned in the SREC (Social Responsibility & Enviromental Sustainability cohort) program, I also have the opportunity to learn about the differing attitudes towards education of students, parents and administrators in a different part of the world.

Eva Huang

Eva Huang graduated with a BA from SFU and taught in Korea before completing the 12-month BEd Elementary Program - July Start Technology and Critical Thinking Cohort. She is currently an Educator-On-Call for the Vancouver School Board.

Jessica Glesby

As a teaching candidate Jessica Glesby won the winter 2009 Kay Norgan Meek Scholarship in Education and graduated from UBC’s BEd Art Cohort (2009). She taught art, ceramics, textiles, photography, graphics and social studies on her practicum.

Simon Lisaingo (Teaching in Faro, Yukon)

Wanting to start my teaching career with an adventure and a new challenge, I ended up here in the Yukon with my wife, Karmen. We are situated in one of the most beautiful places in Canada – all be it a bit cold.

Flynn McCreath (Teaching in Singapore)

Jacquie and I (Flynn), a married couple, are teaching at the Canadian International School in Singapore comprised of elementary, middle school and secondary programs. Jacquie is at the primary campus teaching Senior Kindergarten (18 students), and I am at the middle school campus (same company) teaching Grade 8 (14 students).

Andrew Murray (Teaching in Switzerland)

I am teaching a grade four class at a private international school in Zurich, Switzerland. Erin and I decided we wanted to work, study, and travel for awhile, so we spun the globe and settled on Switzerland. My class consists of 12 boys and 2 girls.

Melanie Niederegger (Teaching in Prince George, BC)

Throughout my experiences as a teacher candidate at UBC, I have had the distinct pleasure to work collaboratively with many talented, diverse, and skilled educators who have had a tremendous impact on my growth as I have developed my teaching identity. My School Advisor in particular, was an extremely supportive, encouraging, dynamic and knowledgeable teacher-mentor who taught me to embrace mistakes and to regard them as opportunities for growth.

Shannon Seid (Teaching in the Surrey School District)

After completing the Bachelor of Education program with the French Cohort in July 2009, Shannon was hired with the Surrey School District in September and has the pleasure of working with many experienced staff as well as a variety of students ranging from kindergarten to grade twelve while teaching in English, French as a Second Language and French Immersion.

Lael Sleep (Teaching in the West Vancouver School District)

I have just returned from teaching for two years in a BC Ministry accredited offshore school in Dalian, China called Dalian Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School. I taught a Grade 5/6 class. It was great to have my own classroom upon graduating from the TACT 2006 program and to immediately put into practice what I had learned.
