All
students admitted to the Teacher Education Options will be expected
to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in written and spoken
English.
Applicants
who have successfully completed 6 credits of English for which
UBC gives transfer credit need not write an English Language
Proficiency test.
Applicants
whose first language is not English and who have not completed
the equivalent of 6 credits of English at UBC, are required
to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission.

1) TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language
Scores
One of Paper-based test (score 55*)
with the Test of Written English (score 4.0) or
Computer-based test (score 22*) with the essay
(score 4.0) or
Internet -based test with overall score of 86, 21 each of reading
and listening and 20 each of writing and speaking.
*The
score indicates the minimum score on each part: Reading, Listening,
and Writing
Official
test results should be submitted directly to the Faculty of
Education from the testing agency.

2) CELPIP - Canadian English Language Proficiency
Index Program
CELPIT A (Academic Reading and Writing) - score of 4L
CELL (Listening) - score of 4L
CELTOP (Speaking) - score of 4L
