Admission Requirements & Application Form

For Application Form see red box below

Applicants with acceptable alternative training and experience but without degrees or formal teaching qualifications may be admitted to the Adult Education, Early Years Education or Infant Development and Supported Child Child Care Diplomas.

There are enrollment limitations in some Diplomas and admission is based on academic achievement and relevant experience.

Applicants new to UBC must complete an Application for Admission Form and must provide official transcripts of all previous post-secondary studies. Previous UBC students need to submit a Re-admission Form in order to activate their eligibility to register.

Special admission and re-admission procedures may be in place for certain courses offered through the Office of External Programs (www.eplt.educ.ubc.ca).

Refer to the Calendar to obtain comprehensive information about the university. It is available in hard copy from Enrollment Services and in the UBC bookstore, or on-line at www.students.ubc.ca.

After you have submitted your application form and required documents, you will receive a letter from the Teacher Education Office which will confirm your admission to a Diploma and assign you a UBC student number.

You will need your student number to access information about the university and your program. Go to www.students.ubc.ca and click on Student Service Centre. Log in with your student number and password (your birth date in YY/MM/DD) to access all on-line services available to you. You will find details about course descriptions, course schedules, registration, timetables, fees, housing, financial assistance and university regulations.

Applicants who are not admitted or who do not register in the Diploma program should note that documents will only be held for one year.

Read the full information on the Diploma in Education Program before completing the application form.

Application Deadlines

To begin the program in May, all application materials must be received by the previous March 3rd.
To begin the program in September, all application materials must be received by the previous April 30th.
Please note: In exceptional circumstances, the Teacher Education Office will still process applications after these deadlines for the Diploma Program. Please contact Maureen Shepherd, TEO Admissions

Further note:The Special Education Area will not be receiving applications for the Special Education Diploma in the near future, as it is currently being revised. Information about the new program will be posted, and the application process will be described, at that time.
