Tiffany Poirier graduated from (UBC 2006) with a BEd (Early Literacy Cohort) in Elementary teaching. She says, "Because of the wonderful program, great instructors, and opportunities UBC provided, I always felt supported, and I immediately got hired in the Vancouver School District. In particular, I must give credit to the following amazing staff: Traci Baillie (my caring Faculty Advisor) and Jo-Anne Naslund (a truly world class librarian). UBC supported my work in many ways, and I felt so honoured to receive the Hazel & Jack Grimmitt scholarship and the Outstanding Practicum Award."
Currently, Tiffany is a full-time District Resource Teacher in Gifted Education running VSB Gifted Challenge Centre programs, and she creates and presents monthly professional development workshops to Lower Mainland teachers and librarians. She describes this as her "dream job, and I thank UBC for getting me here." As well, Tiffany is now an author/illustrator: Q is for Question: An ABC of Philosophy will be available April 24, 2009.
Tiffany concludes:
"I feel so blessed to have had so many great opportunities lately; but I also know that my success comes from the strong work ethic and understanding of teaching that I developed while at UBC."
