12-Month Elementary Option - July Session

Term 1 (Fall Session): September 8 - December 4, 2009 (2009/2010)
September 8 First day of classes
Orientation day. Attendance is expected.
October 12 Thanksgiving Day (classes cancelled)
October 19 - 30 EDST 314 (classes cancelled for most sections)
October 23 Professional Development Day (classes cancelled)
November 11 Remembrance Day (classes cancelled)
December 4 Term 1 classes end
December 8 Term 1 examination period begins
December 18 Term 1 examination period ends

Term 2 (Winter Session): January 4 - May 7, 2010 (2009/2010)
January 4   *EDUC 321 begins
(Students will be assigned to the same school for this orientation practicum and for EDUC 418, the extended
January 15   *EDUC 321 ends
January 18 Term 2 classes begin
January 22 Career Fair (classes NOT cancelled)
February 2 Author Fest 4:30 - 6:00pm (location TBA)
February 15-26 Olympic Break (ALL classes cancelled)
March 26 Term 2 classes end
March 29 EDUC 418A (extended practicum part 1) begins
April 2   Good Friday (classes cancelled)
April 5   Easter Monday (classes cancelled)
May 7   EDUC 418A (extended practicum) ends

Summer Session: May 10 - August 13, 2010 (2009/2010)
May 10   EDUC 418B (extended practicum Part 2) begins
May 23   Victoria Day (classes cancelled)
June 18   EDUC 418B (extended practicum) ends
June 21   Teacher candidates return to campus for program closure week
June 25   Closure week ends (program completed)
August 13   Last day for graduation applications to be submitted through the Student Service Centre

New Teachers' and Student Teachers' Conference:
March 26-27, 2010 at the Radisson Hotel, Richmond. Network with other new teachers, visit the resource fair, collect valuable classroom materials. More info and registration on the BCTF website.
The 2009/2010 Reading Break will be held Mon, Feb 15 - Fri, Feb 26, 2010*.
*Note: Does not apply to Secondary BEd teacher candidates on extended practicum at that time, and who need to follow the break schedules as set out by their school districts.
